Alaina Bertsch
1.If you could make one rule that everyone in the world had to follow, what would it be?
Summer--because I get the chance to visit with family that live out of state, celebrate my birthday in June, the 4th of July, and enjoy activities I don't always have time for during the school year, like--jewelry crafting, swimming, golfing and playing with my dog, Polo.
2.If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I'm as comfortable swinging a hammer as I am wearing a pair of heels. I enjoy designing and crafting wood furniture. Using reclaimed wood, I built my Grandmother a wooden table and was offered $500 for it; of course, I didn't sell it--I made it for my Grandmother!
3.When do you feel a child or teen becomes an adult?
I live in Mitchell, South Dakota, population 15,000 and home of the World's Only Corn Palace! The railroads and Native American culture are a large part of our community's history; and every summer British archeology students come to study and "dig" for artifacts near Lake Mitchell.
4.What do you feel you have learned in life that will be the most useful?
I can't pass up a shoe store without wanting to go in--but, I'm a girl....and We Love Shoes!
5.What do you feel is the hardest job in the world and why?
I sponsor a six-year-old girl named Sandy from Columbia, through PLANUSA. One day I would love to meet her and her family and learn more about her life and culture.
